Read the following article about the Mars Rover Curiosity
that recently landed on Mars: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/48913717/ns/technology_and_science-science/#.UEiNBlJixiI
Answer these questions in complete sentences:
1.
Where would the most likely place to find water be?
2 2. Why is water so important to find on Mars?
n 3.
Why is finding sediment more important than
finding life?
4 4. What is the state of water that Curiosity is
looking for? Why not the other states?
1.) "water flows downhill"- So based on the article, i believe the water would be found in one of the lowest points on mars.
ReplyDelete2.) I guess they want to find water because water helps form rocks and if the rocks are there then there should have been water there at some point and the rocks could have possibly trapped materials from previous bodies of water.
3.) They want to know what made the red planet turn from warm, wet world that the believe use to exist, to cold and dry world that it is now.
4.) im pretty sure this is the answer urlooking for but i dont know... is it evaporation.. because if there was water it was liquid but we cant find it so it must have turned into a gas. that is why it cant be the other states.

1) As Dani said before, "Water flows downhill."
ReplyDelete2) Water along with, light, oxygen, and a food source are essential for life to exist on any planet.
3) Through reading the article, I would guess that sediment has a possibility of holding onto organic materials over time. If they find sediment, then they can then find organic material from the past.
4) My guess would be water in its gaseous state, only because the article described Mars as cold, dry, and acidic. It might even be possible to find water in its solid state considering the average temperature of Mars is about minus 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

1)waterfall at like the lowest part in mars
ReplyDelete2) its so important for the reason being that if there is or was, that there can be a form of live or future life there
3)they want to know like, what was the reason that no life is here or y it was so nice but now has basically went completely dead.
4. the water in a a gase form cause if there is water vapor then that had to have been evaporated some how and my guess is that considering the tepeture of mars today isnt that low from us there should be somthing there.
1.You will most likely find it in low places or down hiil.
ReplyDelete2. Water is so important because they are trying to see if there was life or a futre.
3. Finding sediment is more important than finding life is because sediments have trapped material from acient bodies of water.
4. The state of water is Solid,Water, and Gas

1. Because water flows downhill, water would be found in one of the lower places on mars.
ReplyDelete2. Water is important because they are trying to see if there was life and water is essential for life.
3. They want to know what made mars go from a warm, water filled planet to a cold, dry one.
4. My guess would be water in a gas form because the article said Mars was and dry. But then again you could probally find water as ice because it is very cold.
1.The most likely place to find water be at a low place on Mars because water flows downhill.
ReplyDelete2.They wanted to see if there was any life.
3.They wanted to find sediment because it trapped the chemical information from the body of water.
4.I guess the state of water in gas form because Mars is a cold, dry and acidic planet.
1= Low ground because water runs down hill.
ReplyDelete2= If they find water than there is a possibility that there's life on mars, because water supports life.
3= Sediment, because it traps the chemicals from years ago which gives the data to evaluate.
4= vapor because of the climate mars has to give.
1.you would most likely find it near low ground because water runs downhill
ReplyDelete2.any life on mars would require water to survive
3.Sediment will show the chemical information from previous years
4.Because of the climate it be in a gas state
1. the lower parts of mars because water flows down hill
ReplyDelete2. it is important because they are trying to find life on mars
3. sediment because it shows chemical information
4. it would be in a gas state because mars is dry
1. The most likely place to find water be at a low place on Mars because water flows downhill.
ReplyDelete2. They wanted to see if there was any life on Mars
3. They wanted to find sediment because it trapped the chemical information from the body of water.
4. The state of water in gas form because Mars is a cold, dry and acidic planet.
